Along with the breathing and lung problems mentioned above, asbestos can also cause mesothelioma of the pleura, pleural plaques, pleural effusions, ovarian cancer, diffuse pleural thickening, laryngeal cancer, and even Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Now, illnesses and diseases take decades to develop. However, you should limit the amount of asbestos that you are exposed to because no amount of exposure to asbestos is safe, especially if you are at risk for health concerns.

Although some asbestos is more rare than others, all types of asbestos can be found in insulation. However, there is more than one type of insulation that goes into homes. The most popular insulation that used asbestos is vermiculite insulation. Vermiculite insulation is made of phyllosilicate and looks like mica. If you find pebble-like material in your home, then you most likely have asbestos lingering. Asbestos is typically found in shiny, gold, light brown, or gray colors.
If you find that you may have asbestos in your home, do not try to remove it yourself. Professionals should be the only ones who touch or remove asbestos. Once the asbestos is identified, it will be properly and safely removed through state-of-the-art equipment. There are strict procedures and precautions that must be followed due to heavy OSHA and EPA regulations. Our technicians and professionals don’t only take safety into consideration for their own protection, but also for the safety of your home and your neighborhood.
